2012 Gadget Contest
The gadget can be anything that you build to do a job associated with keeping fish. It may include commercially-purchased equipment, but the function of the gadget must be different than what the product used is specifically intended for. For example, a sponge filter may be used as the base of a DIY egg tumbler because the gadget’s function is to tumble eggs, not be a filter for the aquarium. A gadget may also be identical in function to a commercially-available product, but built with other items. For example, a homemade sponge filter built from bulk sponge glued to a tile or slate is DIY. Examples of gadgets presented in 2011 were a plywood aquariums, brine shrimp hatchers, gravel/epoxy caves and gravel/epoxy caves.
Rules:
1) Bring in one of your gadgets if it is something that can be transported to the meeting. If it cannot be transported, bring in pictures or drawings.
2) Prepare a short presentation (5 minutes or so). PowerPoint would be great, but not necessary. The event organizer (see below) can help with a presentation.
3) At the meeting we will all present our gadgets, and then we will have everyone vote on the one they like the most. The winner will get a prize package of many donated items.
This will be a lot of fun if we get several entries. Everyone plan to participate!
