I need to sit down and get mine all straightened out and get a head count. I think I have 15-20 now and always looking for more. I have the following: Red Irian Turquoise Boesemani Australian Praecox Parkisoni (I think) One is called "Mr. Big" and thinks he's the boss
Well thanks to the mop of Chilatherina fasciatus 'Faowi Village' that Ted placed in the auction i now after 3 days of hatching have 10 wigglers and hoping for more im really excited.
I'm a noob to keeping rainbowfish, but I really like the blue-eye varities, especially against the yellow bodies. I picked up 2 pairs of Pseudomugil connieae from the Spring auction and am currently working with them.
I recently got 6 to add to my gudgeon tank. 4x Melanotaenia trifasciata 2x ??? The guy who I got the young fish from stated that he only had trifasciata young in that tank, but now that they have grown a little bit for me, I have 2 that have a tail that looks similar to the ngara flame tail peacock cichlid, but it is yellow in color with black in it as well.. I have been trying to take pictures, but cannot seem to get a good shot of the rainbows anyone have any thoughts? He also didn't have any other fish that looked similar because I remember looking through all the species he had..
I sure hope that that is the case rather than a hybrid is it possible for this to be like a recessive color/trait? I just didn't see him having anything similar, nor did he keep M. parkinsoni.
I've discussed my rainbows elsewhere, but felt the need to refresh this thread in case anyone has an updated list they'd like to share...have had some nice PM conversations with Marcel, someday hope to take him up on his offer to see his rainbow room. I am the Noah's Ark guy of the rainbow thread: 2 Melanotaenia Lacustris 2 Iriathenia Werneri 2 Temathernia Ladigesi 1 Melanotaenia Boesemani true 1 hybrid (Boesemani/Herbertaxelrodi 1 Glossolepis Insisis (will be two if PWW gets any in) Housed with other community fish the rest of the family picked out, 2 amano shrimp, one SAE, one rubberlip pleco. Update to my wish list.....M. Affinis-Pagwi. The M. Trifasciata-Goyder River is cool but not the fish I saw that I wanted....I've seen that fish in a few different colorings so it was a bit confusing. The Affinis might just be the coolest FW fish I've seen...
Here is the list of species I have at the moment: Melanotaenia parva M. vanheurni M. praecox (Pagai) M. sp. kiunga M. boesemani Lake Aytinjo M. boesemani German strain (very intense colors) M. splendida splendida (Deep Water Creek) M. trifasciata (Goyder River) M. tris (Habgood River) Chilatherina alleni (Siriwo) C. bleheri Glossolepis dorityi G. multisquamata (Pagai)
